In this reactive world we live in, we teach our minds to go faster and faster and faster. This habit can be heard to set aside so that we can sleep. Meditation allows you to notice the quiet in your mind… even while your mind may stay busy, you connect with the part of your mind that is still. It is a passive practice of achieving nothing which is a profound practice after all.

This technique strays into self-hypnosis and neuro-linguistic programming. By that I mean that it is much more directed and purposeful. We engage the unconscious in some visualization in order to achieve a deliberate state.

You can do this technique along with me once, and then on your own any time your thoughts are busy. At the end of the MP3, you may want to continue with the technique – or you may discover that your thoughts and your body are completely peaceful. In that case just drift off into a deep and restorative sleep.
